Halloween Postponed!!

Due to a high incidence of flu, parents in the area have decided to postpone Trick or Treating this year and instead hold a Halloween Party at the Fire Hall on Saturday, November 7, from 6 to 8 PM.

Anyone wishing to contribute Halloween Treats, decorations, small prizes, etc., is asked to bring them to the Fire Hall on Thursday, November 5 between 7 and 9 PM. Everyone is welcome to come to the Hall on November 7 to see the kids in their costumes and help with games and activities.

If your child is experiencing flu-like symptoms on November 7, we ask that you please keep them home and let us know, and someone would be happy to deliver a treat bag to them.

It is difficult to get the word around to everyone quickly, particularly those without small children who would not have been contacted, so if you are concerned about the spread of flu please leave your outside lights off on Halloween night.

Happy 2008 to everyone! Watch the calendar for upcoming events. Craft night started back up Jan 3, and will continue every Thursday night at 7 PM. The Auxiliary will be starting card nights next Friday.

Date Correction/Craft Night Date Changes

Please note, the date for the Tea and Sale is Saturday, November 3, from 11 to 2 PM, not Sunday, November 4, as published in the newsletter.

Thanks to all who came out and supported the Flea Market yesterday. Calendars are still available by contacting any member of the Auxiliary.

Also, please note that Craft Night is cancelled for this Thursday, November 1, but will resume November 8, and will be every Thursday night until Christmas, beginning November 8.

We have all the supplies for twelve ornaments, so anyone interested in making an ornament please come out to the fire hall on November 8. The cost to cover the supplies is $5 per ornament. You can click on the link provided in the previous blog post to see what they look like (and hopefully what ours will look like when they're done!!)

Extra Craft Night

There will be an extra craft night tomorrow, October 25 (just two months until Christmas!) from 7 to 9 PM. We'll be doing glass ornaments. You can see them at http://www.michaels.com/art/online/projectsheet?pid=25353h&categoryid=57

I'll have all the supplies there, and the cost per ornament worked out by tomorrow night. If you're not interested in the ornaments, but would like to come out anyway, by all means do so and bring along whatever you're working on or just come and enjoy a coffee and watch what we're up to. Also, don't forget the Auxiliary Flea Market this Saturday, October 27, from 8 to Noon. Our 2008 Calendars will be available for sale that day!

Sorry!

Due to a death in the family, I was unable to be at the fire hall for the last scheduled youth night on August 30, and I wasn't able to put up a notice before hand. I am sorry for the inconvenience to anyone who may have showed up that night.

Best of luck to all students returning to school in just a few days (some sooner than others I hear)!

2008 Auxiliary Calendar

The Fire Department Auxiliary is looking for pictures of the Ostrea Lake/Pleasant Point/West Jeddore area: people, places or things, current or historic, for its 2008 calendar.

If you have any pictures you would like to submit, please e-mail them to me by August 1. The auxiliary will be meeting in early August to choose photos for the calendar. Also, if anyone wishes to purchase an ad for the calendar, you can let me know by that date. I can get back to you on ad prices.
